Tamegroute ceramics jar
Since the sixteenth century, in the south of the Drâa valley, in Tamegroute, we can find pottery workshops that are among the oldest in Morocco. They produce a typical rural pottery, thanks to the know-how passed down from generation to generation, using clay from underground galleries. After molding, the pieces are dried in the sun and then cooked in ancestral ovens. The specific authenticity of this pottery is its green or ochre glaze and its irregularities. The green glaze comes from the alloy of manganesium, copper oxide and barley flour, the ochre tones come from removing the copper oxide from the alloy.
